Chachapoyas to Lima

Leaving delightful little Chachapoyas and my friendly hostel was not easy. I liked it there, but I had a reservation in Nasca and a bus to catch in Lima to take me there. I remembered running across an email from one of the archaeologists who had worked at Kuelap recommending MovilTours as a bus company, and I went with them. It was a very long ride and I gladly paid the extra money to be housed in the bottom of the bus where the few luxury seats were located.

The drive takes one from the high Andes to the coast through many small towns and villages.

What's nice about Moviltours is that they will stop at designated, secure, locations and everyone gets to go out to eat in a restaurant - included in the price.

Always dropping lower. Just getting to the coast is about a 9-hour ride. Often we went along a river and the weather seemed to be changing all of the time. Here the unexpected jungle.

I think that the driver was ok. I did not see any ambulances around. This was the second roll-over I saw (the first one was outside of Quito) and I barely caught this one.

The sun was low in the sky when we hit the foothills of the Andes

Colorful and lovely to look at in the warm evening light

The pineapple salesman on the move. Looks like he already had made a delivery, in the first picture.

Seems to be the town square of the smallest of places. That might be even the name of the village on the structure (where one could imagine a small band playing on a warm summer night)
